Buy a dad or loved one a gun safe for Christmas. I waited in the aftermath of the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting to write this letter so as to not jump on the emotional bandwagon.

Please buy a dad or loved one who needs a gun safe one for Christmas. School students are a very emotional bunch who don’t need access to guns. I think the best things we as dads can do to contribute to lowering school gun violence is to prevent easy access or unintended access to guns.

As a believer in our Second Amendment rights, I still see the need or responsibility to lock up our guns when not using them for sport or hunting. I know there are other Second Amendment right advocates who don’t believe a useful gun is one that is locked up, but we live in a different world than the one I grew up in.

Even as a concealed weapons permit holder, we need to lock up our guns for the sake of our children and future grandchildren. Please buy someone who needs one a gun safe for Christmas and please use it.
