LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Great friends have made it possible

To the editor:

Moving on — but not far.

Where else but on Whidbey Island could we have started with a patch of forest, a passion for quality animal care and the idea that we could blend these things into a home away from home for your companions?

Therefore, Bayview Kennels land was purchased in 1996, developed in 1997-98 and Bayview Kennels opened in 1998.

Over the past 10 years, we have boarded countless dogs, made many wonderful friends and have become part of a wonderful community.

Now we feel it is time, after

10 years in a seven-day-a-week commitment, to take some time to really enjoy the island. We have sold Bayview Kennels to a couple with the same desire to provide the best possible care for your pets.

It was a difficult decision for us to make. I’m sure it will be tough for some time to come. We will miss all our little friends and their owners.

The good part for us is that we are not going far. We are negotiating on a piece of property here on the South End and hope to begin building sometime later this year.

Leaving the kennel will leave a big void in our lives, but to a great extent that void will be filled by all the great friends we have made here.

The new kennel name will be Bayview Pet Resort. Greg and Gaby (Gabrielle) Moore look forward to meeting all of you that have trusted us to care for your dogs.

With many thanks and sincere appreciation,

Sherry and Don LaPlant
