To the editor:

Thank you, Whidbey community, for making the Obama bake sale a huge success.

We live in such a great supportive community, and I want to acknowledge all of the help I received for the “Baking for Obama” sale at the Bayview Corner Hub last Saturday.

This event was one of nearly 1,000 national bake sale events organized by MoveOn.Org. Our MoveOn Whidbey group had more than 30 people providing baked goods, helping with set up and selling. Special thanks to Beach Cabin for donating a gorgeous chocolate cake and to Maggie Korvin of Ovations Catering for donating a lemon mint fruit tart and a vanilla cream cake.

Thanks also to Goosefoot for helping us with the arrangements in the Hub — a perfect place for a community bake sale. Thank you to all the bakers and helpers, and thank you to the Whidbey Island community: We raised $716!
