Whidbey is a strange and wonderful place as evidenced by a recent experience at the Braeburn Restaurant in Langley.

After enjoying a delicious and more than ample breakfast, my husband, Maury, asked the wait staff for our check.

We were surprised to learn that someone who asked to remain anonymous had paid for our breakfast and wished us a wonderful day. We did not see anyone we knew, so we could only surmise that someone was playing “pay it forward” with us.

Whoever you are … thank you, and we will.
