LETTER TO THE EDITOR: South Whidbey improvements should be tabled till economy improves

To the editor:

Am I living on Whidbey Island or in Beverly Hills, Calif.?

Every time I read the Record, I see major stories about new projects that are going to cost the taxpayer and homeowner more money.

The improvement to the Langley waterfront, which is primarily for boat owners and scuba divers, and the parks district plans for a new recreation center and aquatic center are luxuries the taxpayer can’t afford.

With the economy the way it is, I think it’s only common sense to table these luxuries until the economy gets better.

If we were living in Beverly Hills maybe we could afford it.
