LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Trump isn’t perfect, but he deserves a fair chance

Editor, Remember, as a kid, when someone — mother, father, teacher or relative — told you that “anyone can grow up to become president in America?” Watching and reading the media, the GOP establishment, politicians, the Democrats and scared lobbyists trying to stop Donald Trump, belies what you were told. The mighty effort to stop Trump is growing and now they want to use the dreaded “racist” ploy. It isn’t because he would be a bad president.

Editor,

Remember, as a kid, when someone — mother, father, teacher  or relative — told you that “anyone can grow up to become president in America?” Watching and reading the media, the GOP establishment, politicians, the Democrats and scared lobbyists trying to stop Donald Trump, belies what you were told.

The mighty effort to stop Trump is growing and now they want to use the dreaded “racist” ploy. It isn’t because he would be a bad president. It is because the comfortable status quo would be completely upset. The GOP elitists would have no control over him, lobbyists would not be able to bribe or sway him with gifts and promises of financial support, career politicians would have no leverage to use in making deals and probably thousands of crony jobs would be gone. Trump, not being a master of all things politic, would surround himself with very knowledgeable people in their fields of expertise and would rely heavily on their advice.

Clueless relatives and friends would not make up the bulk of the government as it has been under Democrat administrations. The Obama administration is a prime example. Only 10 percent of his administration comes from the business world yet deems itself qualified to tell business people how to run theirs. Few, if any, served in the military, including Obama, and yet he is the Commander-in-Chief. Is it any wonder our country is a mess?

Electing someone like Hillary would be just business as usual, with more taxes, more spending, more attacks on the 1st and 2nd amendments and much, much more free stuff with more illegals due to wide open borders and more lying and cronyism. Is that really what people want?

Trump may not be perfect but at least he should be given a chance, like Obama was, who was a nothing with no credentials, to make America great again.
