Letter: Trump is sending a bad message to rest of world

Editor,

America is closed. That is the message Trump wants out in the world. If it takes the death of a seven-year-old child, that’s OK too.

We not only have a criminal in the White House, but a murderer too. When will this travesty end? A father told officials at the southern border before boarding that bus to Torino that his daughter was sick and vomiting.

Those officials did nothing for three hours, by then it was too late — she had a 108 temperature, was in shock, very dehydrated.

I am sickened that those border officials have no humanity, no mind of their own to check this out before a child dies. Policy is not everything, people, children should come first. Trump and his “policies” are doing great damage, not only to our country, but to individual people every day. These policies have closed major ports of entry, forcing people seeking asylum to take more dangerous routes through the desert.

Beside this closing of ports of entry, they are destroying water supplies that good Samaritans left, so immigrants could survive the trek through the desert. We are not being told the truth about what is going on at the southern border. Trump even claims that the wall is being built, but it is not. This situation is criminal, immoral and unbelievably sad.
