Letter: What does right to bear arms really mean?

Editor,

Take the rights away from anyone who wants to own an assault weapon? Why would we do this? He must be allowed the right to own, carry and shoot anywhere, correct? Why would we not try to stop him from, say, shooting up a school with small children? He has rights after all. Maybe he wants to shoot up a church, his right? A grocery store, his right? No matter his mental condition, age or background, heaven forbid we infringe on his rights.

Background checks why bother, everyone has a right to his guns, never question his motive to own them, say the NRA and GOP. They would have us all own and carry guns. The “wild west” was such fun, let’s do it again but countrywide this time. If you don’t like how someone drives, speaks or looks, get out your gun and if mad enough shoot first ask questions later. It’s my right, don’t forget that and don’t infringe on those rights.

Seat belts were enough of taking away rights, even though those laws saved countless lives, let’s not go too far. We don’t want to infringe on the NRA and GOP making millions of dollars on the sale of guns, this must not be questioned. The fact that our children, elders and citizens are paying the price, not important they imply or outright say! Money is the all important god here. The more guns sold the better, even if the buyer is mentally impaired, underage, not responsible, not our problem, who cares as long as there is another sale, cha-ching.

Will we stand for?! Some rights now are just too sacred to be messed with, or even discussed, so let’s not. Onward NRA and GOP show us how irresponsible, unfeeling and callous you can be. Never take into account what your opinions and hold on Congress could unleash on our society. You have your rights even if they are despicable, abhorrent and disgusting. Don’t worry about the rest of us, making money is the be all and end all, the important issue here, right?
