Letter: Whidbey should welcome Navy SEALs training

Editor,

Navy Seals are expected to be the best of the best, assigned missions only they can do. They train in small groups and have a goal of leaving no footprint or sign of having been in an area.

Realistic training provides them with the opportunity to encounter the unforeseen and adapt to it.

It is not the goal of the training to be confrontational or frightening nor to gather and share information on private citizens encountered tangentially during training.

The goal is to be invisible.

Whidbey Island has long benefited from military presence and should welcome this opportunity to aid in training this premier force of defenders.
