Letter: Whidbey Shuttle honored long-held reservation

Editor,

I am writing this letter to commend one of our local businesses for its integrity and ethical way of conducting business. I am referring to Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle and Charter.

I will try to make a long story short; I made reservations for travel to and from SeaTac and Oak Harbor back in December 2019. My actual travel was to take place in mid-March 2020. That, however, was when our world came to a halt for most if not all travel due to the pandemic.

I contacted the office manager Joanne on March 18, 2020 and requested that she cancel my reservations. She said that she would be happy to “unschedule” them and “leave them on the books” until such time that I could reschedule and use the reservations.

I am now planning a trip to Southern California and the unscheduled reservation with Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle crossed my mind. I pulled out all my old paperwork from 2020 and called the Shuttle. I spoke with a young lady by the name of Samantha. I explained what had happened in March 2020. After a brief hold she came back on the line and said that she would be happy to schedule the reservations I needed to make now. She had found my previous reservation and said that they would honor it by allowing me to use it for my current travel plans. This is nearly three years after the fact.

I just wanted to commend, recognize and applaud one of our local companies for honoring a commitment made during a period when many of us wondered how many businesses would still be around in three years.

A big thank you with gratitude to Joanne, Samantha, and the many employees of Whidbey SeaTac shuttle for being here to serve our community.
