Letter: WhidbeyHealth, Careage provide exceptional care

Editor,

I have had surgery at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and my wife was hospitalized there several times, most recently last month.

I have run hospitals for the Navy and can only stand in awe at the caring attitude of all the staff there.

They are an incredible staff. They treated my wife Shirley with the ultimate in compassion, love and caring during her stay there as she slowly evolved into her next phase of existence.

All reached out, smiled and cared for her. Shirley was so aware of this, and, when she could communicate, always remarked about how incredibly kind everyone was. Many of the staff were recipients of her smile and her thanks.

She went on to Careage House and received the same level of care and compassion there as well. She passed into her next phase on Friday, Aug. 9.

I will always deeply miss Shirley. She was the most gentle of souls. However, the care given her at WhidbeyHealth Medical Center and Careage House were exceptional to behold and will always remain in my memory.
