Letter: WhidbeyHealth ER staff made all of the right calls

Editor,

I’m uncomfortable that the recent spate of comments about medical care at WhidbeyHealth has been so negative.

I’d like to provide a little balance.

In the 30-plus years that WhidbeyHealth has been providing health care to me and my family, I’ve had one bad experience matched against a half dozen very good ones, including one that saved my life. I’d just returned from a 19-hour plane flight from Africa and at 3 a.m. woke up with intense pains in my chest.

Fearing a heart attack, my wife drove me to the emergency room where they quickly ran tests and accurately diagnosed that I was suffering from blood clots gained from that long flight, clots that now had progressed into my lungs and would very soon kill me if something wasn’t done.

With time being critical, the ER staff made all the right calls and gave me all the right treatments in time, and after two days of excellent recuperative care, sent me home in good health.
