Letter: Writer ignores rioters crimes, Biden success

Editor,

Mr. Fred Wilferth raised a number of points in his letter of last Saturday (the 13th) that I feel compelled to address.

It seems that only Democrat politicians and voters are the real villains in the zeitgeist of today. According to Mr. Wilferth, Barack Obama “weaponize(d) the IRS, the Justice Department, the FBI and every other bureau he could.” I guess that Mr. Wilferth has conveniently forgotten Donald Trump’s unbelievable idea of parading our armed forces through the streets of Washington, D.C., resembling the displays of dictators such as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Kim Jong-un.

January 6, 2021 … right, the demonstrators were poor innocent lambs who merely “followed the crowd into the capitol.” Isn’t it strange that these “innocents” all arrived at the same place and time, armed to the teeth, ready, willing and able to commit murder and mayhem? Nothing ad hoc about their actions, Mr. Wilferth. And as for their “only crime” was following a homicidal crowd, that defense was tried after the World War II when prominent architects of Hitler’s war against the Jews also claimed their innocence by stating that they were only following orders. That boat don’t float, Mr. Wilferth.

Unless the January 6 rioters were all certifiable morons with IQs lower than room temperature, they all knew very well what they were doing. Cries to hang Mike Pence and murder Nancy Pelosi and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be heard on videos from the scene. Nothing like announcing your crimes for all the world to hear. And these guys are now calling for civil war! Seems to me we tried this insanity back in 1861, and we all recall how well that ended.

Let me finish by mentioning a short list of Joe Biden’s recent accomplishments:

Strike that killed Ayman al-Zawahiri, an Al Qaeda terrorist whom the Republicans have been after for twenty years.

All-time low in uninsured rate.

Increased job growth.

Fallen gasoline prices.

What did Donald Trump accomplish in his eight years? Moving the U. S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Oh, boy, that’s something that all Americans can relate to. Now I can sleep safely.
