Editor,
What is the matter with you people?
I hit a deer on State Highway 20 and not one of you stopped to see if I was OK.
I swear to God I am ashamed of mankind and have nothing left to say.

Editor,
I would like to thank the large number of voters who supported me in the primary election for Island County commissioner District 3. It was an honor to lead a large field of candidates and I appreciate your confidence.
Our communities deserve leaders who will listen and represent every resident. Our citizens deserve access to good public transportation and to educational institutions. Our seniors deserve to age in place in the communities they helped build. Our residents deserve the best safety services from first responders and to the county emergency management team. Our islands must be environmentally protected so we have access to clean water and our rural life style is maintained.
Editor,
I am writing to offer my endorsement of Karla Jacks for Island County Commissioner, District 3.
Island County voters should be elated to have such a well-rounded candidate running for this important position.
Editor,
I cannot stand by and witness the mudslinging campaign being pursued by Wanda Grone. When Grone decided to run, rather than being honest and above board about her intentions, she chose to let both the treasurer and her fellow staff members discover it in the newspaper.
Editor,
Talk about a rush to judgment. Here we have two Island County commissioners, elected to create and preserve the quality of life in this county, calling to defrock the person who has championed one of the premier assets of our area. All this before the evidence is even completed.
Editor,
It is time for fiscal responsibility In Island County. We need an experienced and skilled person to handle monetary duties for the county as a start.
Editor,
The Fair is over and what a great four-day party it was. We were able to offer good carnival rides and games, animal exhibits with showmanship events, an array of commercial and food vendors, afternoon bingo, supervised games and activities for children, Eva Mae Main Stage and walk-about entertainment, the big Saturday Fair Parade, logging show, arena horse events, presentations and improv comedy in the BlackBox Theater, plus fabulous exhibits and demonstrations in all the exhibit halls.
Editor,
Since I moved to Whidbey Island and began commuting to Boeing every day, I have met many interesting people as I travel Island Transit. Conversations change from day to day. They could be about sports, upcoming plans, or whatever the big news of the day is. Many a time, these conversations have determined what I am going to have for dinner.
Editor,
With regard to the Aug. 2, 2014 issue of the South Whidbey Record:
While the photo of Dave Olinger, the man running as a write-in for Island County sheriff, is definitely front-page worthy, I was quite upset to see that the staff writer, Jessie Stensland, took what is to be a quirky story of an island man and sneakily inserted obvious personal biases that have no place in the article.
Editor,
Every day, for decades, the U.S. taxpayer is made to give Israel $8 million. That’s $8 million every day.
U.S. law requires that, “no security assistance may be provided to any country the government of which engages in a consistent pattern of gross violations of internationally recognized human rights.”
Editor,
A few years ago our business had a dishonest bookkeeper. She was very clever and determined. She lied, forged documents, and intercepted certified letters warning us of problems. By the time our accountant caught her we were in deep trouble financially. It was a very scary time, but we pulled through.
Editor,
I am compelled to respond to Stan Walker’s letter to the editor. What should have been a relatively simple matter to resolve has escalated based on actions by Mr. Walker, president of the Holmes Harbor Sewer District.
Editor,
I pray that people will research who they are voting [for] for Island County Commissioner District 3. If you look at Karla Jacks, you will see she is the obvious choice.
