Vote Christy Korrow for Langley City Council

Editor,

If Burt Beusch feels responsible to support and defend Donald Trump he is not my candidate!

In the Saturday Oct. 7, 2017 edition of The Record, Burt Beusch was quoted saying, “As an American I feel it’s my responsibility to support the President of our country. However it’s a challenge to support the current administration’s decisions and performance.”

Nonetheless, he had no problem meeting the “challenge” of supporting and defending Donald Trump when on Nov. 22, 2016 in a letter to our city mayor and referring to the sanctuary city he wrote, “inferring any comparison of Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler (as we heard last night) is fear mongering, hand wringing and antagonistic. Donald Trump is not gathering a brain-washed army to march illegal aliens to concentration camps and gas chambers. Donald Trump could be a ’shoot-from-the-lip’ guy who has much to learn about being POTUS but he isn’t anywhere close to being a Nazi.”

I am a Democrat and believe that democracy depends on vigorous debates among competing views and Burt is not debating but seeking advantage by not openly stating his affiliations and position on issues. Not knowing how a person stands on issues it’s a chancy path that I am not willing to take.

He is right when he states that as a city councilman he’ll be able to make an impact on the future decisions of our City of Langley, and God help us if he does.

I know who I am not voting for.
