Rob Schouten Gallery will present “Facade: What Lies Beneath the Surface,” July 4-28. The show will feature the work of artist Anne Belov.

While the gallery won’t be holding a reception because of social distancing concerns, Belov will be present at the gallery from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 4.

Belov’s main concern has long been the portrayal of light, structure, color and the specificity of place and time, according to the gallery’s website.

The July exhibit taking place in this unique moment in time, is no exception, the gallery’s owner said on their website.

“In a time where we stay behind closed doors and wear masks to stay safe, a façade is even more relevant,” Belov said. “What is revealed? What is hidden? Is the exposed face the reality or an illusion? These paintings represent different kinds of façades, manmade, natural, and human, interior and exterior.

“What reveals itself and what stays hidden is left for the viewer to interpret.”
