Walk-in wellness 7 days a week — close to home!

New walk-in clinic is well-equipped for safe, convenient care

Imagine a Sunday afternoon and your toddler is squirming. Nothing you do seems to calm her down. You’re pretty sure she has an ear infection and know she needs medical attention but going to the emergency department could mean hours of waiting before she gets help.

Finally, there’s a better option on Whidbey Island, where locals and visitors can receive fast, compassionate care without a referral or appointment.

The WhidbeyHealth Walk-in Clinton Clinic opened June 2.

Clinic staff are ready to treat common problems such as back pain, stomach upset, cuts, earaches, allergies and the common cold. Advanced x-ray equipment is on-site, as is a clinical lab. Patients can visit the clinic for diagnostic imaging, screening mammography or lab services ordered by their doctor.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Hospital District Commissioner Dr. Grethe Cammermeyer said, “This is one of the more exciting days we’ve had — opening our first walk-in clinic down at the south end! We’ve been waiting for it for a long time and it came to fruition in really short order.”

Life may be on hold, but good health can’t wait.

If you are ill, delaying care can worsen a medical problem and may even require hospitalization which could have been avoided. Extensive measures have been taken to keep patients and staff safe, even during the coronavirus pandemic. “We want to ensure that patients feel safe entering every WhidbeyHealth facility” says Colleen Clark, WhidbeyHealth Chief Operating Officer.

Visiting the clinic requires no appointment or referral and is open to residents and visitors to the Island as well.

“We appreciate the convenience and security and peace of mind this is going to offer, particularly for parents,” said Langley Mayor Tim Callison at the opening ceremony.

Call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing serious medical problems such as difficulty breathing, chest pain or other life-threatening emergencies.

“Our Board and administration have listened carefully to the South Island community. This clinic offers another way for patients to access exceptional healthcare, with the convenience of staying close to home,” WhidbeyHealth CEO Ron Telles says.
