“A 47-year-old Woodinville man who assaulted his wife outside the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts in Langley and trashed her home this summer recently pleaded guilty to two gross misdemeanor offenses.But Curtis Schneider won’t have to spend additional time in jail. Schneider on Aug. 11 pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court to fourth-degree assault and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.Judge Alan Hancock sentenced him to one year in jail, with 364 days suspended and credit for one day already spent in jail. Hancock also put Schneider on community supervision for a year and ordered him to pay $627 in fines and fees.Schneider was originally charged with second-degree malicious mischief as well as the other charges and was facing up to two months in jail. He pleaded guilty to the two lesser charges as part of a plea bargain.According to the affidavit of probable cause, Schneider confronted his wife in the parking lot of the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts on June 25. He slapped her three times in the face, pulled her hair and pulled her head back.When a man at the arts center came to help the woman, Schneider tackled the man and punched him in the face several times, court papers state. The victim, however, refused to pursue charges against Schneider.When the woman went home, she found that Schneider had awakened her two sons and was going to take them out of the house. She tried to call 911, but Schneider took the phone from her and threw it across the room, breaking it.In addition, Schneider broke several things in the house, including the stereo and a vanity, and kicked holes in the walls. “
