“South Whidbey’s baseball team let two games get away from them against Lakewood last week. On Wednesday the Falcons lost 6-5 on Lakewood’s diamond, despite enjoying a 4-1 lead after four innings. The Falcon hitting attack was higlighted by a home run from Tristen Johnson and double by Caden Russell. Lakewood came back to take a 5-4 lead with a 4-run fifth inning. The Falcons tied it in the sixth, but the Cougars regained the lead on a two-out RBI in the bottom of the sixth. Jim Davis pitched five innings for the Falcons and was handed the loss. In home action Monday, South Whidbey lost to Lakewood 12-4. In a game that was much closer than the score indicated, the Falcons let this one slip away. With the score tied at four apiece after five innings the Falcons gave up eight runs. Bryan Wenker was tough through five innings on the mound but left the game after five. After some untimely walks and a couple of bloop singles the Cougars blew the game open. The Falcons were led offensively by Chris Patterson’s 2 for 4 day at the plate. South Whidbey is looking ahead to a busy week during spring break. They host Mount Baker Monday, travel to Blaine Tuesday, and host Blaine Thursday. “
