“After a six-month break from high school tennis, three South Whidbey boys almost knocked enough dust off their games Friday to make it to the 2A state tennis championship. Both the doubles team of Kevin Ando and Dorian Sidhu and singles player George Spivikov won a few and lost a few during Friday’s tri-district meet at the Pac West Tennis Club in Federal Way. Unfortunately, they lost a few too many to qualify for the state meet as both the doubles team and Spivikov placed fourth.Ando and Sidhu started the tournament well, winning their opening match against a Foster team 6-4, 7-6. They lost in the second round to a Vashon team, then beat a Steilacoom team to make it into the third-place game. But facing the same team they beat in the first round, the Falcon pair could only muster a 3-6, 3-6 match score, which cost them a trip to Yakima.Spivikov played three matches at the tournament. His only win came in a 7-6, 6-7, 6-2 first-round match against a Vashon player. “
