A two-car crash near Useless Bay Avenue shut down one lane of traffic for an hour and a half on Saturday night.

According to South Whidbey Fire/EMS Deputy Chief Mike Cotton, a woman failed to yield at a stop sign and hit a car traveling south on Highway 525 at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. The southbound vehicle was driven by an unidentified Langley woman and was carrying passengers. Two of the passengers were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles under their own power and remained on scene until they were driven home by friends or family, Cotton said.

Though the damage appeared severe to passersby, Cotton said that the crash was more of a “glancing type of blow.”

Cotton reported two other car crashes over the weekend, both of which occurred in front of Naomi’s Valero Gas Station in Clinton. Cotton said that the drivers in the crashes did not sustain injuries.
