Cash, equipment taken in break-in

Sound equipment and money from the collection box are still missing after a burglary at the Christian Science Society Church recently.

Det. Ed Wallace of the Island County Sheriff’s Office said church officials reported the theft on the morning of Monday, Aug. 3.

Reported taken from the church at 15910 Highway 525 were an amplifier, a Sony mini-CD player, two speakers and $50 to $60.

Entry was gained by prying open a rear door of the church, Wallace said. Damage to the building was minimal.

Church officials told the sheriff’s office that the burglary probably took place between July 26 and Aug. 2. Wallace said an earlier break-in also had occurred at the church, in which some other items were missing, but had not been reported.
