A man who was hit on the head by a falling tree on South Whidbey is being airlifted to an off-island hospital, according to first responders.

A man who was hit on the head by a falling tree on South Whidbey is being airlifted to an off-island hospital, according to first responders.

It’s unclear exactly what happened, but South Whidbey Fire/EMS responded to a location on Glendale Heights Road shortly before 3 p.m. A man had reportedly been struck in the head by a falling tree. Dispatchers suggested the man was conscious but did suffer injuries.

He was transported to a soccer field and is being airlifted from the soccer fields on Langley Road, according to district Chief Rusty Palmer.
