“Intermediate School students Erica Johnson and Chase Brown in their team’s Incredible TechEffects skit at the regional Destination Imagination Tournament March 10 in Mount Vernon.Seven South Whidbey teams completed in the regional Destination Imagination competition held March 10 in Mount Vernon, and together they brought home three first place awards, one second, one third, two Spirit Awards and a Renaissance award for outstanding design and performance.The first place teams will now advance to state competition in Richland on April 7.Three of the teams were from Langley Middle School, from the Intermediate School. Going to state are the LMS Incredible TechEffects team consisting of students Matt Foote, Max Wallace, Spencer Davis, Katy Gordon, Nik Rueth, Sam Lungren and team manager Tim Economu (this team also won a Spirit of DI award). The LMS Anonymously Yours team going to state is made of up students Amelia Cave, Ethan Buktenica, Devin Baxter, Amanda Holtby, Christian Nilsen, Daniel Shafer, Jennifer Shafer and team managers Trish Nilsen and Lisa Shafer (this team also won the Renaissance award).The Intermediate School team advancing to state also competed in the Incredible TechEffects challenge. Its members are Erica Johnson, Lauren Sandri, Nick Rovang, Chase Brown, Marijane Daumen, Brett Warwick and team managers Lana Johnson and Val Brown.The other two placing teams both competed in the Mystery Loves Company challenge. Placing second at the regional competition and winning a Spirit of DI award was the Middle School team with members Kelsi Lindus, Annie Hawkins, Courtney Dettrich, Erik Barmon, Micha Petrich, Mark Arand and team manager Carol Barmon.The Intermediate School team in this challenge placed third, and was made up of students Marshall Banks, Hanna Banks, Cameron Gray, Jacquie Cerra, Kenny George, Bridget Scott, Ian Marsanyi and team managers Robert Marsanyi and Dayle Gray. “
