“The Dining Room, a classic play by A. R. Gurney, will open on Friday, April 20, at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. And on April 21, theatergoers can have their own Dining Room experience at the WICA Dinner Theater event starting at Useless Bay Country Club and continuing on to Whidbey Island Center for the Arts for theater and dessert.In addition to dinner, wine, play and post-show dessert, patrons will also gain background insights about the playwright, through the words of noted performer David Ossman. Ossman had performed at WICA in another Gurney piece, Love Letters, with Michael Learned, and it was he who brought The Dining Room to the attention of WICA’s Community Theatre, which is now producing the play. Proceeds from the Saturday Dinner Theatre will support the Community Theater project.
