Driver injured after car rolls on highway

The driver’s injuries were non-life-threatening.

A 23-year-old sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident Thursday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

North Whidbey Fire and Rescue, Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue and WhidbeyHealth EMS responded around 6:24 p.m. on Oct. 15 to a report of a vehicle that came to rest in the ditch on the northbound side of State Highway 20, near the intersection with Libbey Road.

The driver was transported to WhidbeyHealth Medical Center with “non-serious injuries,” according to Trooper Heather Axtman, a public information officer for the Washington State Patrol.

Axtman said Peri Muellner, the driver of the 2012 Toyota Scion, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The responding trooper was granted the search warrant to have Muellner’s blood drawn.

Axtman said it was unclear whether Muellner was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
