Making a guest appearance will be dancerly dog Meesha.A group of island dancers and musicians will present a free performance on Saturday at Langley Park featuring Boom, Boom, Boom, a 21st Century Earth Dance that was choreographed by Deborah Hay as part of the Solo Performance Commissioning Project in August 2000 at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts. Joni Takanikos, a participant in the SPCP, has adapted Hay’s choreography and will perform it with Emily Day, Lynn Mizono, Lily Simpson, Beth White and special guest Meesha.The dance will be accompanied by a live soundtrack by the Trickster Hero Orchestra, which includes Barton Cole, Frazer Mann, Derek Parrott, Brent Purvis and Mark Wahl.The two groups will collaborate to create a spontaneous study of the practice which inspires the choreography of Boom, Boom, Boom, and the audience will be invited to take part in the re-creation of a 21st century Earth dance.There is no admission fee. The unusual performance will take place rain or shine on Saturday, June 2, at 5:30 p.m. “
