“Even though he is not a math teacher, South Whidbey High School wrestling coach Mike Crebbin has a few favorite numbers on his mind this week. Numbers like 19 — the number of teams the Falcons have beaten in the last eight days. And 3 — the number of tournament and dual meet wins the team has picked up in those same eight days. The Falcons extended their longest winning streak in years Saturday afternoon in Concrete when they won an eight-team tournament on the strength of two individual weight-class championships and six runner-performances by the team’s wrestlers.Coming out on top in three rounds of wrestling were Andy Wills at 145 pounds and Brandon Hern at 171. The pair of grapplers kept the Falcons just ahead of second-place Concrete, which scored just four points behind South Whidbey’s winning team total of 177. Adding bulk to the scoring total were the second-place finishers. Seniors Mike Johnson and Luke Smith did solid work in the 119 pound and 130 pound weight classes to earn their places, along with Chris Long (135), Sean Rumberger (140), Chris Martin (160), and Chris Hezel (215). Phil Schorr, the lightest of the Falcon wrestlers, also placed, taking third in the 103 pound division.Their coach said the win will give his boys confidence as they spend the next two weeks preparing for the NCC championships.The kids enjoy winning, Crebbin said.The Falcons wrestle in their last home meet of the year Thursday night. They take on NCC rival Sultan starting with junior varsity action at 6 p.m. The varsity team wrestles at 7 p.m. Sultan lost to the Falcons in Saturday’s tournament, finishing fourth. “
