The Falcon volleyball team (5-5 Cascade, 6-6 overall) faltered at Cedarcrest Oct. 18, losing three of four games; 18-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 17-25.
For South Whidbey, Jessi Eaton had 30 assists and Caitie Newman 15 kills and three aces in the loss.
“We played a tough match,” Coach Tim Durbin said. “Janelle (Iverson) was back and played well for just one day of practice. We just didn’t make the couple of plays that would have got us over the top,” he said.
Two days later the team had a comeback of sorts, beating Lakewood three straight; 25-22, 25-18, 25-15. “It was a pretty quick game once we got on a roll,” Durbin said. “It was their best performance in a while.”
Eaton picked up 19 kills, Newman had eight.
The Falcons are in fourth place in the conference (6-5, 7-6).
King’s (10-0, 11-0) and Archbishop Murphy (7-4, 8-5) have clinched the 2A playoff berth, Cedarcrest (10-1, 12-1) the 3A slot.
