“Lindsay Sievers will have teammates to talk to this year when she makes the long van ride to Federal Way to compete in the Northwest 2A District meet.The senior tennis player was the only Falcon to play at districts last year. But this week, both Sievers and the doubles team of Jenny Saephan and Megan Forbes fought their way through a North Cascades Conference subdistrict meet to earn a spot on center court at the district meet.Sievers breezed in three matches to go as the number-one seed from the NCC. After sitting out a first-round bye, she won a two games against Lakewood opponents, then downed Blaine’s top player in a 7-5, 6-3 championship match.Sophomore Kylie Bozym, the only other Falcon singles player at the meet, played well but could not get the requisite amount of wins to move on to district. She lost her opening match, but surged back with two wins, including a 6-2, 6-1 contest against Blaine’s number-two player. She got up fast and stayed there, said Bozym’s coach, Tom Kramer.In her final match, Bozym played to a one set to one set tie before losing 6-2 in the third to a Lakewood player.In doubles, Saephan and Forbes also received a bye in the first round. They won their first match with little trouble, but fell 6-1, 6-4 to Lakewood’s Gilman and Sinn. Balanced on the tournament’s knife edge at that point, the Falcon pairing surged back in their final game, downing Blaine’s Freeman and Glahan 6-3, 6-4 and earning second place in the tournament.Coach Kramer said the duo saved their best for last.They played their best tennis in that last one, he said.The district meet will be held at the Pac-West Racquet Club in Federal Way on May 19 and 20. “
