Travelers headed to Whidbey Island for the Thanksgiving holiday currently face a two-hour wait at the Mukilteo terminal, according to Washington State Ferries.

The expected wait on the Clinton-Mukilteo route has doubled in the past hour. Just after 2 p.m., WSF said the expected wait time was one hour in Mukilteo.

Today’s delays are no surprise. Ferry officials issued an advisory earlier this month that warned of long waits at the terminal for travelers through the Thanksgiving holiday.

The longest delays are expected through this evening for people heading to Whidbey Island from the mainland, and for travelers returning on eastbound sailings on Friday morning, Nov. 25.
