“Washington State Ferries will be raising fares on June 3. To assist customers in understanding tariff changes and in making cost-effective choices about their ferry travel, ferry employees will be hosting shipboard open houses to answer questions and pass out information. On Wednesday, May 30, the Outreach Team will be on the Port Townsend/Keystone route from 12:30 to 8:30 p.m. The two biggest fare changes include an 8 percent increase in fares on this route based on the comparatively short distance of the route. Time-based tariff logic calls for a smaller increase than most other routes in the system. As a result, Port Townsend/Keystone tickets will not be accepted for Central Sound travel, including Edmonds/Kingston, Seattle/Bainbridge and Seattle/Bremerton. Port Townsend/Keystone tickets will be accepted on Mukilteo/Clinton, Fauntleroy/Southworth and Vashon ferry routes. On Friday, June 1, the Outreach Team will be on the Mukilteo/Clinton run from 2 to 8:45 p.m. The two biggest fare changes for this route include an 11 percent increase in fares. The new time-based tariff resulted in a smaller increase on this route in relation to other routes in the system. Coupon books and passes are not valid on any other route since Mukilteo/Clinton is the least expensive route in the system.Unlimited walk-on passes availableOn June 15, State Ferries will begin sales of a monthly, non-refundable, ferry-only pass, available exclusively on the Web site for walk-on passengers. This pass is discounted 30 percent from the full passenger fare and is based on 22 or more days of travel. The Mukilteo/Clinton ferry-only pass is $39.50 per month and is usable exclusively on this route. This pass allows unlimited passenger travel within a month for one passenger and is not associated with any transit agency. Sales begin June 15 for the July pass and will be available the 15th through 26th of each month thereafter. The ferry-only passes can be purchased at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/buy_online.Coupon books of all types purchased after June 3 are not refundable. Coupon books purchased before June 3 can be used through their expiration or until July 7, whichever comes first. Between June 3 and Sept. 1, 2001, these coupon books can be exchanged at toll booths toward the purchase of a new book or fare. Ticket books can be refunded by mail to WSF Internal Control, 2911 Second Ave., Seattle 98121-1012. Call WSF Information, 1-888-808-7977. “
