Freeland man accused in motorcycle pursuit

A 28-year-old Freeland man is accused of leading police on a short chase on his motorcycle in Oak Harbor, according to court records.

Prosecutors charged Timothy W. Tullar in Island County Superior Court Oct. 5 with attempting to elude a pursuing vehicle. His bail was set at $5,000.

The officer clocked Tullar’s motorcycle going 69 mph in a 50-mph zone on Highway 20 near Monkey Hill Road, the police report states. The officer turned on the lights and sirens and signaled for Tullar to stop.

Instead, Tullar allegedly accelerated, passing vehicles across a double-yellow centerline. He traveled at speeds in excess of 100 mph, the report states.

Tullar turned onto Ault Field Road and “continued at a high rate of speed with wanton disregard for other vehicles around him,” the report says. The motorcycle passed several vehicles on the shoulder.

The officer followed after Tullar and found him stopped on Crosby Avenue with his motorcycle on fire.
