Ryan’s House For Youth received a $1,000 donation from Carl and Rita Comfort from proceeds of the Samaritan Series Wine.

The planned shelter for Whidbey Island’s homeless youths has a lot in the Scatchet Head neighborhood of South Whidbey. Ryan’s House executive director Lori Cavender spent the summer garnering support to build the shelter and sustain its services.

“Ryan’s House For Youth staff and board of directors would like to thank them for this generous gift,” Cavender said.

The shelter also received a check for $45,000 on the last day of the Whidbey Island Fair. Ryan’s House had a tent, manned by Cavender and Ryan’s House staff and volunteers, promoting its services and selling $1 wristbands.
