Langley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michaleen McGarry was presented the Mayor’s Excellence Award by Mayor Tim Callison at a city council meeting on Sept. 19.

Callison said McGarry was honored for the role she played in boosting tourism in Langley this summer. Tourism was up 26 percent this summer based on the number of visitors that come to the visitor information center, he said.

“I think that’s directly attributable to the outreach effort of the city chamber of commerce,” Callison said.

He also credited her with helping to ensure a successful Dock Stock 2016 event on Aug. 19 at the Langley Marina.
