The Langley City Council will appoint up to three individuals each to the change-of-government pro committee and the con committee to submit written statements for the August Primary Election voter’s pamphlet.

Names must be submitted in writing by 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 31 to Debbie Mahler, clerk/treasurer, at city hall, or to clerk@langleywa.org.

The city council will appoint committee members at the June 6 council meeting. The pro and con committee statements must be provided to the clerk/treasurer by June 27.

The proposition to change Langley’s form of government will be on the Aug. 16 Primary Election ballot. If approved by the voters, the measure would abandon the current mayor-council form of government and adopt in its place the council-manager form of government. This would transfer the administrative responsibilities from an elected mayor to a city manager hired by the city council.
