Langley finance director resigns after two years

Monica Felici, who currently holds the role, announced her resignation for “personal reasons.”

The city of Langley will soon be searching for a new finance director.

Monica Felici, who currently holds the role, announced her resignation Wednesday.

“Due to personal reasons, I have decided to seek employment elsewhere,” Felici wrote in a brief letter to the mayor and the city council. “I have decided to resign effective Wednesday April 13, 2022. I appreciate the opportunities I have been given by the City of Langley and I wish only the best for the city.”

Felici declined to provide additional details when approached by the South Whidbey Record.

“Mrs. Felici took on a huge load between being both Clerk and Treasurer, and also dealing with some very large public records requests,” Mayor Scott Chaplin wrote in an email to the Record. “On behalf of all the staff, we will miss her hard work, dedication, and good nature; and wish her the best going forward.”

Felici has served dual roles as the city’s finance director and clerk since April 2020, when she replaced Debbie Mahler.
