“Eight Langley galleries will celebrate spring with an evening art walk tonight, March 18, from 6-9 p.m. At the Artists’ Cooperative of Whidbey Island, more than 40 local artists will show jewelry, fiber arts, photography, bronze, color pencil, glass art, pottery and fine art. Featured artists of the month are watercolor painter Michele Kempees and glass artist Rick Jarvis. Blackfish Gallerio will feature handpainted silk, woven fiber arts and enamel jewelry plus Donald Miller’s photography.At Enchanted Eagle Gallery, fine handmade inlaid jewelry will be shown, along with totem carvings and handcrafted furniture inspired by designs from Southwest native cultures.Resident Hellebore glass artist George Springer invites the public to an evening of glassblowing, with new works in progress. Also featured will be jewelry by local artists Camille Johnson Noble and Sabine Leteinturier.Gaskill/Olson Gallery will welcome spring in a show of watercolors by Win Bainbridge, Bill Sheppley, and Janice Hyde in their newly expanded show space. New work by Island artists will be on display at the Glass Knight, which showcases original stained glass lamps and windows by Roger Aaron, and an extensive array of glass art including collectibles such as scent bottles, paperweights, Limoges boxes and handmade crosses. Lowry/James Antiques will highlight its rare natural history prints, including some recent acquisitions: John Gould’s Birds of Great Britain, Basilius Besler’s Hortus Eystettensis, and Abraham Munting’s Phytographia Curiosa. Museo is featuring a show of abstract paintings in acrylic by David Hall, surreal landscape imagery in oil and beeswax by Matt Farrar, and goblets, vases and lidded vessels by emerging glass artist Donald Singleton.
