Dennis Benning and Dennis Webster are both running for that 6-year post.In the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District, all three open commissioners seats attracted a candidate. Incumbents Curt Gordon and Jim Porter will run unopposed for their seats, while former high school teacher Carl Westling will run for Dave Haworth’s seat. Gordon said Friday that he had expected Haworth to run, but as of noon he had not filed for office.The Holmes Harbor Sewer District will see at least three new faces in November. Filing for open commissioner seats are Meg Wingard, Jim Gervais, and Don LaMontagne.The most most hotly contested offices on South Whidbey are the two commissioner slots open in the Scatchet Head Water District. Ken McLaughlin and John Fremming will face off for a four-year unexpired term, while Duffy Schoeler will challenge incumbent Dave Morphew for a 6-year term.In the race for Port of South Whidbey commissioner, Lynae Slindon is the only person to file for the position Jan Smith will leave in November.There were no changes in the South Whidbey School Board race from earlier this week.
