Erin Brewer, Mikayla Kestle, Emma Lockleer, Jadan White, Emma Anastasi, Makeda Brown, MacKenzee Collins, Taylor Dance, Mikayla Elfrank, Sophia Falso, Sean Miles and Elli Sandberg, all students at Langley Middle School, were named to the list.

This is the eighth year the Washington State Library Association has sponsored this contest for students in fourth through eighth grade to write to an author of a book that made an impression on them.

Langley Middle School students wrote to the authors of “The Hunger Games,” “The Hatchet,” and “Where the Red Fern Grows.”

About 3,400 letters were submitted for the contest. Only 325 semifinalists were chosen for state judging. Three champions were selected for Level 1, 2 and 3.
