Local libraries adapt programs to support social distancing

Even with all locations closed to the public because of COVID-19, the Sno-Isle Libraries have been finding a way to reach patrons with online programming.

According to a press release, Sno-Isle Libraries staff divided into several teams to work on online service options and launch programs.

The library network has been hosting virtual events for book club groups, storytime hours and pub trivia.

Book clubs have been hosted with Overdrive, a digital resource partner. Online book club organizers will schedule event information and post it at www.sno-isle.org. Patrons will be able to start their own clubs with friends and family.

Storytime hours are continuing with livestreamed videos combined with pre-recorded videos.

And pub trivia has been made possible with the use of Zoom, an online teleconferencing application. Trivia nights, one for adults and one for kids and families, have been happening each week.

Participants can play alone or as a team, although each team must figure out its own means of communicating with its members. Competitors will submit their answers via an online form for true/false, multiple choice and fill-in-the-blank questions.

No prizes will be given to the winning teams.
