Low numbers drop South Whidbey dodgeball tourney

An all-island dodgeball tournament that had been planned for today is out. South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District program manager Carrie Monforte said low registration for the one-day tournament was too low. She cited other events and activities as a reason that only one team was registered.

An all-island dodgeball tournament that had been planned for today is out.

South Whidbey Parks & Recreation District program manager Carrie Monforte said low registration for the one-day tournament was too low. She cited other events and activities as a reason that only one team was registered.

“There had been interest, but folks just didn’t follow through and register,” she wrote.

The tentative plan is to try to host the fundraiser event for the Healthy Island Youth Initiative — the program that encourages healthy nutrition and physical activity in children — this winter.
