Man accused of threatening Ryan’s House director

A 20-year-old man is facing felony charges for allegedly threatening to shoot the director of a youth center in Coupeville, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Leman W. Booher II in Island County Superior Court Aug. 15 with harassment and unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree.

According to a police report, the director of Ryan’s House for Youth reported that Booher threatened to kill her, others at the center and himself. Ryan’s House offers shelter for homeless youth, a drop-in center and access to services.

A few days earlier, Booher admitted to the director that he had used drugs and had woken up with a firearm, but he didn’t know where the gun came from. He was ineligible to possess a gun because of a previous domestic-violence conviction, court documents indicate.

Deputies were able to locate Booher’s camp site and collected items for safe keeping. A detective obtained a search warrant and located a 9mm handgun in the belongings, the report states. The gun wasn’t reported stolen.
