Man charged with raping teenager

An Anacortes resident is accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl at a gathering on North Whidbey following a funeral in January, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Tevis C. Honeycutt, 19, in Island County Superior Court May 20 with rape in the second degree.

The girl reported to a police officer that the party was in the deceased person’s honor and many people were drinking alcohol.

At around midnight, Honeycutt asked the girl to go outside to talk, accordingo to the report.

Once outside, he repeatedly sexually assaulted her, the police report states. The girl said she repeatedly told him “no,” “stop” and “don’t” and physically resisted him.

Honeycutt pulled her back to him when she resisted, saying, “I know you want this,” the deputy wrote in the report. The girl was eventually able to escape and left with friends.

Honeycutt is scheduled to be arraigned July 6.
