The prominent Langley sign was recently painted and restored by the city’s chamber of commerce, prompting Mayor Fred McCarthy to honor the organization and Executive Director Marc Esterly at the city council meeting May 5.
“It’s amazing what a coat of paint can do,” Esterly said at the meeting Monday evening, adding that the new paint makes the sign bright and cheery.
He was congratulated by the four present city council members — Councilman Bruce Allen was absent while attending to a family matter. Esterly’s work was acknowledged by Councilman Jim Sundberg.
“I bumped into the living proof of the work when I bumped into Fred Lundahl with a sweatshirt on covered in paint,” Sundberg said.
