“Meth questions?Island County Sheriff Mike Hawley will be at the Admiral’s Cove Clubhouse Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. to answer questions about the suspected methamphetamine operation in the neighborhood. He and other law enforcement personnel will address any issues of interest to area residents. Six Whidbey Island residents were arrested Wednesday in connection with a suspected methamphetamine manufacturing operation.Island County Sheriff’s deputies, sergeants and detectives with assistance from other agencies made the arrests at a home located at 74 Kinkaid in Admiral’s Cove. The six adults taken into custody on suspicion of possession were Steven Lomax, Kevin Rollyson, Kevin Weiss, Donna Sommers, Theresa Breckenridge and Cindy Wade. According to Sheriff’s Detective Bob Clark, all but Wade and Weiss lived at the residence. All six were booked into Island County Jail, and several children at the residence were removed to a safe environment, said Clark.Prior to the arrests a search warrant was executed. Clark said police found substantial paraphernalia for ingestion, substantial meth, and items consistent with meth sales and manufacture. The items were found in a camper trailer on the property. The investigation began when an individual tipped off authorities about the suspected meth operation. Initially inquiries were made at Greenbank Sand and Gravel, where a man allowed a search of the property. Clark said he found suspected meth manufacturing equipment and information leading him to the house in Admiral’s Cove. He emphasized that the sand and gravel company was not involved. The items were merely discovered on the property, he said. They were cooperative.Clark said it is not unusual for meth operations to take place in two or more locations. Normally, it’s not all done in one place, he said. There’s quite a few steps involved and it lessens their chances of being caught.This suspected meth operation is not considered unusually large, Clark said. He estimated it could produce 5 or 6 ounces of the illegal drug at a time. Meth is sold by the gram, and there are 28 grams to the ounce.By Friday all but one of the suspects had been release from jail, Clark said.Formal charges are pending. “
