“No Band Is An Island members are (from left) Phil Marple, Devin Ossman, Linda Morris and Randy Hudson.In a special performance event, popular island group No Band Is An Island comes to Bayview Hall’s contra dance on Saturday, April 21 for an evening of traditional and contemporary acoustic music — American, Celtic, Early Music, original compositions — plus some tunes that don’t fit into any category.No Band is not your ordinary string band: they’ve been known to add conga to a fiddle tune or compose music for a flute made from a garden hose.The band includes Linda Morris on fiddle, Phil Marple on guitar, Devin Ossman on flute and whistle, and Randy Hudson playing English concertina, hammered dulcimer and foot bass.The dance floor will be open for contra dancing and waltzes, with Seattle caller Adam Carlson. Dance instruction begins at 7 p.m., and the music starts at 7:30. Those who just want to come and hear the music are just as welcome.The event is sponsored by South Whidbey Parks & Recreation.
