A 21-year-old Oak Harbor man is facing a felony charge for allegedly firing an unloaded pellet gun at a group of people, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Thomas J. Nore in Island County Superior Court April 8 with displaying a weapon to intimidate.

On the afternoon of April 4, a group of kids, ages 12-14, were confronted by Nore in the area of North Oak Harbor Street. He pulled a pistol from his waistband, pointed it at them and fired four times, the police report states.

Nore later told police that the gun was an Airsoft pistol with no pellets in it and it only discharged bursts of air when he fired, the report states. He admitted that shooting the gun at the teenagers was stupid, the report states.

The juveniles, however, thought at first that the gun was real and were frightened by the incident.

A supplemental report by an officer states that the pistol was modeled after an Army 9mm handgun and looked authentic.
