Donald A. Dawson, Wendell 'Skip' Dobson

Donald A. Dawson

Donald A. Dawson, 71, died on Nov. 20, 2001. He was born on June 12, 1930, in Bellingham and spent the majority of his childhood in Mount Vernon. He later moved to Seattle, where he graduated with honors in 1948 from Garfield High School. He leaves numerous friends and family who loved him dearly for his wisdom and wit, integrity and compassion.

An important part of his youth was his involvement with the Boys Scouts of America, an organization in which he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He pledged the Sigma Nu fraternity and was a cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graudate from the University of Washington. He was a member of the ROTC program and became an officer in the Transportation Corps during the Korean conflict. Upon his return from Korea, he attended the University of Washington Law School, graduating in 1957. He practiced law for over 40 years, primarily in Bothell and Redmond.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of Redmond; a daughter, Nancy, of Camano Island; a son, John, and grandson, Blaine, of Leavenworth; two stepsons Rick and his daughters, Angela, Rachel and Erica of Okanogan, and Jeff and his son, Blaine, of Snohomish; and two stepdaughters Loree and her daughters, Sarah and Skyler of Phoenix, and Lisa, and her son, Ian, and daughters, Heather and Kelsey, of Snohomish.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alaska Dawson.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel in Seattle. Remembrances may be made to Evergreen Hospice Services, 12822 – 124th Lane NE, Kirkland, WA 98034.

Wendell ‘Skip’ Dobson

Lt. Col. Wendell “Skip” Dobson (retired) died Nov. 19, 2001.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 43 years, Anne; his children and their spouses, Kevin and Lynn Dobson of San Jose, Calif., and Kim and Rick Naten of Shoreline; grandchildren Taylor and Katherine Naten and Brett Dobson; his mother, Eileen Wheeler, of Tacoma; brothers and sisters Alden and Louise Dobson of Orting, Larry and Nancy Dobson of Renton, Renee and Bill Wragge of Denver, Col., Leanne and Rich Sowers of Tacoma, Claudia Bootsma of Tacoma, Carl and Sue Wheeler of Auburn and Shawna Wheeler of Bellevue; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is remembered for his unwavering devotion to the University of Washington football team. He retired in 1990 as a lieutenant colonel after 33 years of service in the Army Reserve. He retired from the University of Washington in 1992, after 30 years in administration at the College of Education, and spent the last nine years traveling the world with his wife and following the “Dawgs” across the country every fall.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at the Woodland Park Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) Congregation, 5555 Phinney Ave. N., Seattle. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent with private graveside services. Remembrances may be made to the Curtis Williams Fund, 1200 Fifth Ave. Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98101. “Go Dawgs!”
