Vaudrel Elizabeth (Tipton) Ingram

Vaudrel Elizabeth (Tipton) Ingram, 90, died on Nov. 11, 2001 in Oak Harbor. She was born on Nov. 10, 1911, the daughter of Alberta (Milner) Tipton and William Andrew Tipton of Non, Okla.

Mrs. Ingram lived in Oklahoma until 1941, when she and her husband, John Sullivan Ingram, moved to Holtville, Calif. They resided in Whittier, Richmond and Rodeo, Calif. Upon John’s death in 1983 Vaudrel moved to San Diego, Calif. to be near her daughter and extended family. In September 1996, Vaudrel came to Langley, accompanying her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. David Wright of Clinton.

She frequented the Brookhaven Center in Langley for fellowship, senior meals and special events. Her favorite place for a morning meal was Mike’s Restaurant in Langley where she was a regular customer, always ordering the No. 5 breakfast.

She was a resident of the Whidbey Island Manor Nursing Home in Oak Harbor from her 87th birthday in 1999 until her passing one day after her 90th birthday.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and David Wright, Clinton; her son, William Richard Ingram of Stockton, Calif.; three granddaughters, Lena Carol Stombs of Oceanside, Calif., Mrs. Carol (Ingram) Grant of Moncks Corner, S.C., and Mrs. Brenda (Stombs) Saunders of French Camp, Calif.; one grandson, Greg Ingram, Modesto, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews in California and Oklahoma.

She loved young children and infants. In her younger years, she assisted needy families in the Richmond, Calif. Free Will Baptist Church by babysitting and purchasing clothes and toys for young children. She crocheted lap robes for “old folks,” whom she defined as anyone 10 years older than her. The lap robes were crocheted during the year and then delivered to a local nursing home right before Christmas. She was a loving person who cared for those younger and older than her.

A graveside service for Mrs. Ingram (aka Baba) was held Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Park, San Jose, Calif. Rev. Peterson of the Free Will Baptist Church in Campbell, Calif. officiated.
